Perfect Porridge Recipe

This easy porridge recipe with apple, banana and cinnamon will warm you up from the inside out.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Rolled oats
  • ½ cup sultanas
  • 500 ml Boiling water
  • 1 tsp Vanilla bean extract
  • 2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp ground cardamon
  • 1 apple peeled, cored and grated
  • 1 pear peeled, cored and grated
  • 2 bananas peeled and roughly chopped
  • ½ cup blueberries fresh or frozen
  • 2 cups milk plus extra if needed
  • ¼ cup flaked almonds lightly toasted
  • honey to serve

Instructions

  • In a medium size saucepan add the oats, sultanas and boiling water. let sit for 5 minutes or until the water has been absorbed.
  • Add vanilla, spices, fruit and milk and cook on medium heat. Once simmering reduce heat to low and cook for 15 minutes. Stir frequently to stop the porridge from sticking to the bottom of the pan.
  • The porridge is ready when the oats have a creamy consistency and the banana has melted into the porridge.
    serve in bowls and top with a drizzle of honey and the toasted almonds.
