Juicy oven baked beef Burgers

Create the ultimate healthy beef burger at home without the fuss. These easy oven baked burgers take out the stress of a messy stovetop and reduce those calories for a healthier, tastier burger.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices day old sourdough bread
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 brown onion thinly sliced
  • 1 red onion thinly sliced
  • 500 g premium beef mince
  • 1 egg
  • 2 garlic cloves crushed
  • 2 tbsp tomato sauce
  • ½ cup parmesan grated
  • 1 zucchini grated
  • 1 carrot grated
  • 4 burger rolls
  • 4 slices cheese
  • tomato suce, mustart & mayonaise to serve
  • pickles to serve
  • 2 tomatoes sliced to serve
  • 1 cup iceberg lettuce shredded to serve
  • 4 slices beetroot to serve
  • 4 fried eggs to serve

Instructions

  • In a small bowl, Soak the bread with the milk and set aside.
  • In a small frying pan, heat 1tsp olive oil and cook the onions on med-low heat. Once they start to colour, reduce heat to low and continue to cook for 10 minutes until they are very soft and caramelised. Set aside

  • Preheat oven to 200° or 180° fan forced
    Line a large oven tray with baking paper. Ensure the tray has high edges to avoid any spillage

  • In a large bowl combine the beef mince, egg, garlic, tomato sauce, parmesan, zucchini and carrot. Squeese out the excess milk from the bread and crumble into the mixture. season well with salt and pepper. Mix well with your hands to combine. Form into 6 large patties or 12 small ones.
    Place on prepared oven tray and bake for 15 minutes or until cooked through. Allow to rest for 5 minutes

  • While the patties are cooking, cut your burger buns, slice up your tomato and lettuce and fry your eggs.

  • To assemble the burgers; spread the top of the burger buns with mayonaise, tomato sauce and mustard . Place a beef pattie on the bun and top with cheese, tomato, beetroot, onions, pickles, lettuce and the fried egg.
