Why I love these healthy yoghurt and muesli cups.

Well apart from being oh so easy to put together I love how pretty the layers look in the cups. If breakfast is to go, then you can make these in jars with screw top lids and take it with you.

My kids are obsessed with yoghurt but store bought varieties can contain a scary amount of sugar. So I started making these using natural yoghurt and sweetening the yoghurt by using a small amount of strawberry jam. They were a hit!!

I prep these the night before for Joe and I to take to work. I use small Tupperware containers and thats our morning tea sorted.

What you will need to make these healthy yoghurt and muesli cups

  • Unsweetened yoghurt, I like to use Greek style yoghurt for It’s thick and creamy consistency.
  • Toasted muesli: There are so many options out there and different combinations of seeds, nuts and dried fruits so play around and find one that you like.
  • Strawberry jam: I use a small amount of jam in my breakfast cups to sweeten the yoghurt and counteract the tartness from the berries. Honey would make a great substitute for the strawberry jam.
  • Fresh berries: I use a mixture of blueberries and strawberries. You could use raspberries, blackberries, banana, peaches or even passionfruit.
Fresh vibrant strawberries for my yoghurt and muesli cups.

What is the difference between Greek yoghurt and natural yoghurt?

The main difference between Greek yoghurt and natural yoghurt is the consistency. Greek yoghurt is thicker and has a consistency similar to sour cream. If you are calorie counting then natural yoghurt would probably be a better option for you because Greek yoghurt has a slightly higher fat content.

I use Greek yoghurt a lot in cooking as a substitute for cream and sour cream.

what is the difference between Muesli and granola

Muesli and granola are both a mixture of rolled oats, grains, seeds and dried fruit. The main difference is that Muesli is uncooked and granola is baked in the oven to give it that crunch. Granola is cooked with oil and a sweetener such as honey or maple syrup to help bind it together into clusters. If you love the crunch of granola but are looking for a healthier alternative toasted muesli does not contain any added sweeteners.

Muesli with dried fruit and nuts is one of the ingredients in my yoghurt and muesli breakfast cups!

How to assemble the yoghurt and muesli cups

The recipe makes 2 so just double as needed.

Layer some of the muesli into the bottom of the 2 cups.

Add a layer of Greek yoghurt and some berries.

Add another layer of muesli and greek yoghurt. Spoon over the strawberry jam in each cup.

Top with remaining berries.

How long can yoghurt and muesli cups keep?

I use the cups if I am consuming them the same day, otherwise prepare them in pots or jars with screw top lids and place in the fridge until needed. They will keep in the fridge for up to 3 days so they are perfect for making breakfast or morning tea ahead of time.
